Ben Harper sounds good on paper. He's a 24-year-old Californian devoted to vintage acoustic guitars, original political songs and the unusual blend of calypso and Mississippi Delta blues--an inspired blend of David Lindley, Tracy Chapman, and Taj Mahal. Unfortunately, Harper's execution of this original conception on his debut album, „Welcome to the Cruel World,” is distinctly underwhelming.
Harper's singing is the biggest problem. He mumbles his vocals with so little articulation and within such a narrow range that he makes Bob Dylan sound like Al Green by comparison. Moreover, Harper's overall performance is so low in energy that he makes the laid-back Cowboy Junkies sound like the Sex Pistols. His songwriting and guitar picking reveals hints of a modest talent, but they aren't nearly special enough to compensate for the narcotic effect of his singing. The heavy-handed Rodney King song, the adaptation of a Maya Angelou poem and the broken-hearted love songs are more likely to recall Chapman's disappointing second album rather than her exhilarating first. --Geoffrey Himes

Album obsahuje hity, jako je Gimme Shelter, Midnight Rambler a You Can't Always Get What You Want. Hudební kritik Jann S. Wennner popsal jednotlivé skladby jako znepokojující, scenérii jako nesmírně ošklivou a sám Jagger přiznal, že Let It Bleed bylo ovlivněno válkou ve Vietnamu.

Každý týden potom kapela vydávala novou hudbu (celkem 38 tracků) doprovázenou videoklipem, která byla po určitou limitovanou dobu ke stažení zdarma. Jedná se již o druhý projekt digitální distribuce nového materiálu - prvním byla série Riverrun v letech 2005-2006. Kapela měla v plánu projekt Drift po roce ukončit, projekt však pokračuje. Drift Series 1 je tak kolekcí prvního roku doplněná o několik bonusů.

The original release of the Jackson 5's Greatest Hits LP in 1971 was cause for celebration, as it encapsulated an extraordinary 18-month strings of back-to-back-to-back-back-etc. hits and was itself a hit souvenir of Jacksonmania. It featured eight smash records, led by the group s phenomenal Motown debut, 'I Want You Back,' plus two immensely popular B-sides 'I Found That Girl' and 'Who's Lovin' You' and something new: 'Sugar Daddy,' a just-dropped single which went top 10 pop and no. 3 R&B; it was then not available on any other J5 LP. This LP reissue is something new again: it features the rare quadrophonic mixes, originally released in Japan only in 1975. These mixes used alternate vocals and sometimes emphasized instrumentation not heard in the J5 singles or LP and as a result these versions are much sought-after. As within this edition these mixes are the stereo folds, consumers do *not need a special decoder or four speakers to enjoy the music.

Grant Green's 1962 album Born To Be Blue featuring Ike Quebec is often thought of as the sister album to Quebec's classic Blue and Sentimental, which was recorded for Blue Note just 3 months prior and also showcased the deep chemistry between the soulful guitarist and tenor saxophonist. Quebec's deep, soul-drenched tenor sound matches beautifully with hard bop masters Green and pianist Sonny Clark, along with the tried-and-true rhythm section team of Sam Jones and Louis Hayes on this sublime set of standards.
Blue Note Records' Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Reissue Series is produced by Joe Harley and features all-analog, mastered-from-the-original-master-tape 180g audiophile vinyl reissues in deluxe gatefold packaging.
